since i'm an art student, i spend quite a bit of time looking at contemporary artists. i thought i would share some of my favorites because i am quite in love with contemporary art and find myself quite inspired by these artists.

karla black: glasgow artist that i saw in the goma and kind of fell in love with her installation work. she uses a lot of unconventional materials like makeup, creams, etc. that you would find at a drug store

gerhard richter: LOVE his photographic paintings

felix gonzalez-torres: his light pieces are amazing, stood in front of this one in the pompidou for a good 15 minutes. love it so much  (that's why it's my fb cover photo)

uta barth: contemporary photographer. i love her blurry photographs and just the quietness of her work.

oh and of course daniel everett, professor here at byu that i am taking photogoraphy from this semester. i am in love with this piece of his

these are just a small few, i won't bombard you with too many. BUT. one last one. this video piece by douglas gordon has been haunting me. this elephant is trained to play dead so he has to lay on the ground and pretend to be dead and get back up again. the heartbreaking part is that by the end he is so exhausted and can barely get up. i have a really hard time watching this every time.
